Las Vegas, NV (May 6, 2009) -- It’s said that charity begins at the poker table, and the newly founded PokerGives.org will prove just that at its first annual Shuffle Up for Poker Gives charity poker tournament presented by High Society Spirits and sponsored by Rockwell Time at Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas on Thursday, June 4th. The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Paralyzed Veterans of America, and Special Olympics are among the charities supported by Poker Gives.

Fifty-percent of the proceeds will benefit the charities, and the other half will constitute the prize pool to be distributed amongst the winners. A minimum of ten players will receive cash awards and valuable sponsored prizes. This year’s Shuffle Up for Poker Gives champion will receive the first place prize money, an exclusive 2010 World Poker Tour (WPT) Celebrity Invitational entry, a Legacy Alliance crystal trophy, and a Rockwell wristwatch.

“I’m honored to join Mike Sexton, Linda Johnson, and Jan Fisher in launching Poker Gives,” stated co-founder Lisa Tenner. “Now, millions of poker players will have the opportunity to show how much they care.”

The Shuffle Up for Poker Gives fundraiser is open to the public and will take place in the Golden Nugget Grand Ballroom at 7PM. The buy-in for the no-limit Texas hold’em tournament is $200 + $30. Players may purchase $50 re-buys during the first three levels and a one-time $50 add-on for twice the starting stack. Registration will open at 5 PM on the day of the event.

A silent auction sponsored by The Autograph Guys will run from 6 PM to 9 PM.
